Wycliffe In Focus - Nawila
Wycliffe Bible translators believe that all people should have the Bible available to them in the language they understand the best – their ‘heart’ language. We are supporting Wycliffe’s InFocus project to bring the Bible to the Nawila* people of Kenya in their local dialect. The Nawila* people are a predominantly Muslim community, part of an Al Shabaab stronghold, making it quite a dangerous place to be a Christian.
More information can be found on the Wycliffe website. *Name changed to protect identity

An encouraging story from the Nawila people:
Did Jesus sin?
J*, one of the Nawila team, has often compared the Qu’ran and the Bible with his friend Omar, as they respectfully shared facts with each other. This time, Omar came to him with a question. He said, ‘The Qu’ran teaches that prophets are without sin, but now I realise that actually most of them sinned— Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jonah and David. Did Jesus sin too?’
J* responded that according to the Bible, Jesus did not sin, and in fact, he is more than just a prophet, he is the Messiah. To J’s surprise, Omar agreed, as he had read in his Qu’ran that Jesus is called Messiah in Sura Nisaa 4:171. J took the opportunity to share who the Bible explains the Messiah is and why he was without sin. Omar listened carefully, and concluded by saying that perhaps there is something special about Jesus.
