Engage

Engage is a charitable organisation working in over 30 primary schools, 2 secondary schools and one sixth-form college in and around the Woking area.  Engage coordinates a team of volunteers and youth workers to go into the schools being the hands and feet of the gospel, showing God's love in a way which people can encounter and engage with, through word and deed, to around 15,000 children and young people.

Engage facilitates clubs, anger management groups, mentoring, detached, assemblies, RE lessons, story- telling, Christian Unions, transitional lessons and develops links between Church youth workers, children's workers and the schools.  Engage was set up as a response to town wide mission projects in 1994 and although it has changed over the years the heart of its mission has remained the same, to be able to give every student in the Woking area an opportunity to hear and to respond to the gospel in a way which is relevant to them.

Focus Update and Prayer Requests

SECONDARY:

Please pray for

•The new Christian Union at Hoe Valley school, pray for great relationships forming both with the students and staff and that it will be the start of a long and fruitful working relationship between Engage and Hoe Valley School.

•The Students at Woking College, particularly those leaving this year that they look forward to their next steps whether at University or in the workplace.

•All students revising for and taking exams this summer, also for their teachers and parents that they are able to provide the best support.

•The Engage team at Winston, that through our Alpha invitation initiative, our presence in the school is much wider known to students and staff. Pray for great conversations during our detached sessions and that students invite their friends along to Youth Alpha.

•The transition workshops taking place with the Year 6’s, that it gives the students chance to explore their worries and what they are looking forward to regarding moving up to Secondary school in a fun and interactive way.

PRIMARY:

•Please pray for the team, and Ruth particularly as we prepare our summer presentation/worship. We will be thinking about prayer.

•We are also beginning to plan ahead for the next year, so open doors, and smooth process booking the schools, and accommodating everyone.

•Please continue to pray for those that have, are or will be, involved in the small group and mentoring work. That those struggling with anger   might know peace, patience and forgiveness, and those with low esteem might know value, worth, and love from those around them, as well as their heavenly Father.

•We ask for all volunteers, helpers and workers to enjoy and be encouraged through the summer term, as some are preparing for holiday clubs in the summer, for the ongoing relationship between the churches and those attending our schools and that through the summer well deserved rest and refreshment may be found.

•And of course, new volunteers.
