Mission

‘Making Jesus visible by word and power.’

In September 2014, PCC and other church members met under the leadership of the Local Mission Advisor of Guildford Diocese and unpacked the results of a National Church Development and Community survey, which we undertook in order to establish where we were as a church. With this tool we identified our Strengths, Challenges, Opportunities and Threats and looked at where we were wanting to go.

We have been working on both looking inwards and outwards.Teaching and growing in the area of worship and expressing our faith has been key in the last few years.  People’s faith has been challenged and a passion for Jesus and connecting with the Holy Spirit is something that teaching and worship has been able to feed into and deepen.  As we have looked inwards and grown the place where people can belong, we are now more-so looking outwards and are ready for change.

We are a church with a heart to reach out and inspire a love for Christ in our community in new ways.  In order to do this, we aim to use prayer, our gifts, our love of Jesus and our buildings to serve those around us. PCC recognises the need to engage and connect with the community in order to move towards the opportunities for showing Jesus’ love for all and to demonstrate the fullness this brings.

This desire to connect with and serve our community has led us to look at the resources our buildings could offer to those around us.  We already provide and invite people in to an array of services, but we also want our buildings themselves to serve the communities and be a part of our hospitality.  We recognise that relationships will grow and new ones form, as we connect with people around us in new ways; and our buildings are a great resource, but in need of some attention and development to best meet the needs of the church family, the preschool and the community to whom we are reaching out.
